Here’s an editing tip for our event filmmaking friends.
As you all know, event filmmaking is anything but predictable, and we must often make do with a less-than-perfect shooting environment.
If you’re ever stuck in post with a fast pan that goes from one color balance to another, such as a quick pan from the bride throwing her bouquet to her single ladies, here’s what you can do to fix the color: During the pan, place a cut on a camera flash and then correct the white balance on one or both sides of the cut as needed. The flash and the movement of the pan will cover the color correction edit and you’ll have a proper white balance at both the beginning and the end of the pan. Problem solved.
